Microphlebectomy is an outpatient procedure performed at either of our two state-of-the-art facilities in Southwest Florida, Fort Myers or Bonita Springs.

Improved Appearance:

Say goodbye to those unsightly bulging veins and hello to an improved you!

What to Expect With Our Microphlebectomy Process

Microphlebectomy is a minor outpatient surgical procedure performed under local anesthesia, ensuring minimal risk and a more comfortable experience throughout your treatment.

Once the area is numb, Dr. Magnant will make a series of small incisions in your skin where he had previously marked the varicose vein locations. He will then insert a special instrument through each incision and gently grasp and remove the varicose vein, segment by segment.

After the vein is carefully pulled out through the incisions, stitches are generally placed to facilitate faster healing and get you back to your normal activities faster. After removal of the diseased vein, blood flow is naturally redirected through your healthy veins.

Microphlebectomy Vein Treatment - Your Recovery

Healing time after microphlebectomy vein treatment varies. However, most patients can expect to resume normal activities within a day or two after the procedure.

The side effects and complications associated with microphlebectomy are generally rare and minor. Most patients experience only temporary bruising and swelling, which can be managed with proper postoperative care and Arnica tablets, a homeopathic medicine which reduces bruising and inflammation.

Medical-grade compression stockings are recommended to be worn for several days after the procedure to help reduce swelling and promote more rapid healing.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will my diseased vein come back after I undergo microphlebectomy?

Unlike some vein treatments that collapse the vein but leave it in place, microphlebectomy actually removes the vein. Therefore, there is no chance of it coming back, although other veins may develop in the future years because although vein disease is treatable it is not necessarily curable.

  • How long does the microphlebectomy procedure take?

Since microphlebectomy is a minimally invasive procedure, it typically takes less than an hour to complete.

  • Are there any risks associated with microphlebectomy vein treatment?

The risks of microphlebectomy are minimal. Some patients report mild bruising, swelling and discomfort.

Dr. Magnant or a member of his team of providers will answer all of your questions related to microphlebectomy during your personal consultation or in the pre-operative examination room on the day of your procedure.
